‘Who the Hell Is Joy-Ann Reid???’: Trump’s Supposed Ignorance Leads to Barrage of Responses from Folks More Than Ready to Answer

President Donald Trump‘s Twitter fingers shifted into overdrive Saturday when he launched into a scathing attack on longtime MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid.

The unwarranted screed only came back to bite him however, as Twitter users buried the president for daring to come for the beloved TV reporter.

Trump slammed Reid, who appeared as a guest host on “All In With Chris Hayes” the previous night, as a talentless wannabe whom he claimed not to know before his early morning tirade.

“Who the hell is Joy-Ann Reid???,” he tweeted. “Never met her, she knows ZERO about me, has NO talent, and truly doesn’t have the ‘it’ factor needed for success in showbiz. [Reid] Had a bad reputation, and now works for the Comcast / NBC losers making up phony stories about me. Low Ratings. Fake News!”

It’s unclear what exactly sent the president into a rage. However, Trump didn’t pop off until after Reid’s Friday appearance on “All In,” where she covered the POTUS’ recent reference to VP Mike Pence as “Mike Pounce,” and said the president had “went on to treat the gathered Republicans to some smoking hot beauty tips,” according to Slate.

That particular jab was in reference to how Trump doesn’t fancy energy efficient light bulbs because they give his skin an orange tinge under their light.

Later that day, MSNBC, a generally left-leaning network, also posted a pair of segments from the show titled “Mike Pence cleans up after Donald Trump in Baltimore” and “Air Force: Trump’s money grab is a risk to national security” on its website.

Reid is the host of her own MSNBC show, “AM Joy,” and has long been a vocal critic of the president and his policies, so it’s no surprise that Trump would fire off insults at her. In June, Reid released the best-selling book “The Man Who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story,” in which she questioned if the former real estate mogul was running the “largest con” in U.S. history.

Trump decided to hit back, but his vitriol didn’t go over well with Reid’s fans, who bashed the president for taking aim at the political host.

Trump asks, “Who is ⁦@JoyAnnReid “? actress Morgan Fairchild tweeted. “Well, she’s smart, funny and fabulous!! And she takes no prisoners, Honey!”

“Um, Mr. President…Joy-Ann Reid is the person whom you just helped sell a couple hundred thousand books by attacking her,” another Twitter user wrote. “And it’s a book sorta about you, and it’s not flattering. So, well played…Her agent and her publisher thank you, as I’m sure she will when she gets off air.”

Author Grant Stern added: “@JoyAnnReid is universally known for #AMJoy. She’s deeply talented, has that “it” factor, an excellent reputation for cutting through the b.s. & reporting stories about Trump’s corruption so serious, he’s crying.”

Congresswoman Karen Bass also chimed in and chided “our racist president” for “yet again singling out a strong, powerful Black woman and bullying her on Twitter.”

“@JoyAnnReid is doing her JOB, and she’s not going to stop,” she wrote. “That’s why you feel threatened.”

Late last year, Trump faced backlash for his rudeness toward three African-American female journalists, including PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor, whom he called racist for daring to question him about his use of the word “nationalist.”

Reid seemingly joined in on the fun Saturday but did not directly mention the president. Instead she thanked her fans for making #AMJoy the top trending topic on Twitter. Later during her show, the political host rattled off a list of examples of why Trump deserves to be impeached.
