Kevin Hart Successfully Undergoes Back Surgery After His Classic Muscle Car Runs Off the Road in Malibu

Kevin Hart was in a bad car crash on Sunday in Southern California and had to undergo surgery.

According to reports, the comedian suffered “major back injuries” after his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda went off Mulholland Highway in Malibu near his home before 1 a.m.

Hart was a passenger in the vehicle, and the driver was Jared Black, who lost control and crashed through a wooden fence. He then landed in a ditch 10 feet off the road, as reported by TMZ.

Also in the vehicle was Black’s romantic partner Rebecca Broxterman, who’s said to be the personal trainer of Hart’s wife Eniko Parrish.

E! News reports that Broxterman wasn’t harmed in the crash, and Black had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, Hart was able to walk away from the wreck, and he would go to the hospital after first going to his nearby home. Photos show the roof of the Plymouth completely torn off with the front smashed in.

It’s being reported that Black wasn’t under the influence of alcohol during the crash.

Sources close to Hart said the 40-year-old’s surgery was out of Sunday night, and “the surgery went smoothly.” It’s also been said he’s “feeling as good as to be expected right after surgery, and is “expected to make a full recovery.”

“The surgery was a complete success. The doctors completed a procedure to stabilize his back,” said a source. There was also no spinal damage, and Hart is able to “walk and move his extremities.”

Parrish also was seen going into the hospital, and she gave a brief update on her husband’s condition.

“He’s great,” she said. “He’s going to be doing just fine. Everybody’s good. Thank God. “

Hart bought the classic car as a 40th birthday gift to himself in July and posted an Instagram photo of it. “I added some more muscle to the family for my 40th….welcome home “Menace” #MuscleCarLover,” he wrote in the caption.

Many have sent positive words to the Philly native since the crash, including his “Jumanji” co-star Dwayne Johnson.

“Stop messing with my emotions brother @kevinhart4real. We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong 🙏🏾” he wrote Sunday on Instagram.

Hart is expected to be in the hospital for at least a couple of days.
