Further adding to their power couple status, Ciara and husband Russell Wilson have announced they are team owners of a Seattle-based soccer team.
Wilson, who plays quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, announced the news on his Instagram page, while his singer wife made the same announcement on her own account Tuesday.
“A Day I’ll Always Cherish! @DangeRussWilson and I are fired up to announce we are Team Owners of the Seattle @SoundersFC one of the best soccer franchises in the world! We can’t wait for our kids to grow up loving Soccer! Family is everything! Football and Futbol is Family! #SoundersIsFamily ⚽️💚💙,” read Ciara’s caption.
She and Wilson also shared a family photo of themselves and Wilson’s stepson Future Zahir and Ciara and Wilson’s daughter Sienna Princess Wilson all wearing matching personalized Sounders jerseys.
In a video Wilson posted of the couple sharing the big news, he and Ciara explained what they’re hoping to accomplish as owners.
“We wanna bring some of the best soccer players in the world to the Pacific Northwest right here in Seattle,” Wilson says in the video.
“Why not?” Ciara adds before the couple says, “Go, Sounders!”
The MLS team announced August 14 that the Wilsons are one of 11 families who have joined the team’s ownership.
Expounding on their views of soccer in a statement, Wilson said he and Ciara “think [soccer] is a transformational sport.”
“It changes peoples’ lives,” the quarterback said. “It brings people together from all different countries, all different worlds, all different socio-economic statuses, all different races, all different troubles in life – it brings people together. That’s what we’re excited about for this game, this team, and what we can do in Seattle.”
Meanwhile, fans have been applauding the couple for their newest business venture.

The Wilsons’ team ownership of the Sounders is the latest step in the couple expanding their enterprises.
After the couple signed to Creative Artists Agency in February, they announced two months later that they’d be launching a joint production company together. Why Not You Productions will create scripted and unscripted projects for film, TV and digital platforms. That is in addition to the couple’s separate ventures: Ciara’s record label, Beauty Marks Entertainment, and Wilson’s brand management, creative content and production company West2East Empire, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
