Last month it was revealed that Tiffany Haddish will have a new show on Netflix that will introduce a diverse group of female comedians, and the trailer was just released on Thursday.
The show is called “Tiffany Haddish: They Ready,” named after her catchphrase, and the “Night School” star handpicked each comedian herself. She’s also worked with all of them, either in stand-up or television. Haddish produced the show as well and will also serve as host.
Marlo Williams will be one of the comedians, as will Chanté Wayans, Flame Monroe, Aida Rodriguez, April Macie and Tracey Ashley. And the series will be six episodes long, with each of the women getting their own 30-minute show.
Wanda Sykes will also produce the series through her Push It production company, and Haddish said she created it because it’s “very difficult” for female stand-up comics to “get a little shine.”
Meanwhile, the 39-year-old’s new film “The Kitchen,” a drama set in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, opened Friday, August 9.
Haddish plays the part of Ruby O’Carroll in the flick, one of three wives whose mob husbands get sent to prison, forcing the women to take on their illegal businesses as well as their competition.
The other two wives are played by Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss, and the serious role is an obvious departure for the usually funny Haddish, who’s arguably one of the most recognizable comedians today.
“Tiffany Haddish: They Ready” premieres on August 13, and Haddish said viewers will be far from disappointed.
“I am introducing six of my favorite comedians. In my eyes they are superstars. The epitome of they ready,” she told Deadline.
