‘Thank You Wendy’: Nicki Minaj Grateful to Wendy Williams After She Defends Her Stance on Relationship

Nicki Minaj was one of the talking points on “The Wendy Williams Show” Tuesday, and in an apparent change of pace, host Wendy Williams went pretty easy on the rapper.

After discussing rumors that Minaj grabbed a marriage license at the Beverly Hills courthouse to apparently head down the aisle with her boyfriend Kenneth Petty, Williams dished on Petty’s past.

When he was 15, Petty was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree, which Minaj addressed on Instagram in December. Additionally, the 41-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection to a 2002 shooting death, Us Weekly reported.

Minaj discussed her boyfriend’s legal woes on Queen Radio last week and defended him against naysayers.

“How do y’all not understand happiness versus clout?” she said in part.

Williams, meanwhile, agrees with the rapper.

“You don’t have to clap with me, but this woman’s amassed a fortune and she is very famous and no matter what you may have, when you turn the key to your home and there is no one there but crickets, it is not all good. She also says she wants to get married before having a baby — how rare these days. So, I say good for you, Nicki.”

The footage caught the attention of Minaj who quote-tweeted it Wednesday from a Twitter user who said they were “so surprised to see @WendyWilliams be understanding and showing support for @NICKIMINAJ’s relationship,” noting the talk show host has “been very harsh on anything Nicki related in the past, which was likely due to what was happening in her own life,” likely referring to the alleged cheating erupting in Williams’ now-ending marriage to Kevin Hunter.

“Regardless of all that, (cuz we don’t know the fakks on that) thank you Wendy,” Minaj said.

In the past, Williams has appeared to side against Minaj. One example of that came when the talk show host had Remy Ma as a guest on her show during the iconic MC’s beef with Minaj in 2017.

Remy had appeared on the daytime talker after dropping her second diss track toward Minaj called “Another One.”

“It was the behind-the-scenes things that you people will never know about as far as trying to keep me off of red carpets, and trying to make sure awards don’t go to me or she’s not going to be in attendance, or trying to get people to make bad reports about my album sales to make me look less and to make her look better,” Remy claimed of Minaj’s supposed underhandedness. “When you’re trying to stop my bag, when you’re trying to stop me from taking care of my children, then I have a problem with that.”
