Teairra Mari was arrested over the weekend for reportedly driving drunk without a license in a car that had three wheels rather than the usual four.
The news of the “Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood” star’s bust by police was reported to the New York Post’s Page Six via law enforcement sources Sunday. Insiders said Mari drove for a mile on three wheels after she lost one when the front right tire was forced out of position under her maroon 2014 Dodge Charger. The incident is said to have occurred at around 3 a.m.
Those who witnessed the reality star making her way though Queens-Midtown Tunnel are said to have told police Mari’s vehicle was sparking and smoking as it rolled against the pavement. Mari allegedly continued speeding as authorities raced after her. She finally stopped once police caught up to her.
When performing a breathalyzer test, Mari was found to be more than three times the legal limit with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.304.
The reality star, who is said to have boasted about her celebrity status during her arrest, was also discovered to have had open containers of alcohol in her vehicle. They included a bottle of Ketel One vodka and Four Loko.
Court documents obtained by Page Six stated the “LHHH” star had “watery eyes, a flushed face, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath,” adding that Mari was “unsteady on her feet.”
An officer noted in the docs that the star was driving “at a high rate of speed” before she was stopped. It was also found that Mari did not have a driver’s license and had violated a prior DUI arrest since the car remained unrepaired. It was required to have a court-ordered ignition interlock installed, would prohibit the Charger from starting if the driver has a BAC level above a certain limit, sources said.
Among Mari’s charges, police say they include DWI, unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle, illegal operation of a vehicle, violation of court-ordered ignition interlock and illegal tinted windows.
This is the latest legal-related incident for Mari, who was most recently in the news for money she owed rapper 50 Cent. Although the court battle has ended with Mari being ordered to hand the “Power” creator an excess of $30,000, it seems the star’s longtime alcohol abuse has resurfaced.
Mari has been public with her battle to stay sober. On “The Real” in 2017, she spoke about going to rehab, which was the result of an intervention with “LHHH” co-star Moniece and a show producer.
“I made it through,” she said. “I’m back and I’m better. I am still uncomfortable with the way that it went down with the people who set it up. I didn’t feel like it was coming from a genuine place from some people because it was being filmed for a TV show. … But at the end of the day, going to rehab was one of the best things that I could have ever done for myself.”
