Tracy Morgan spoke about his Bugatti Veyron being hit earlier this month in New York City, just minutes after he purchased it.
The luxury ride costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 million, and the price for repairs, according to a TMZ report, is over $32,000. That’s because both the driver’s side fender and bumper were damaged.
Moreover, the accident happened just three days shy of the five-year anniversary of the veteran comedian being in a fatal car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The accident killed his friend and work partner James “Jimmy Mac” McNair, who was in a limousine with Morgan. Their vehicle was hit by a Walmart truck, and Morgan and another injured passenger were eventually given a settlement for an estimated $90 million.
The “SNL” alum gave a few details about the fender bender in New York during a recent interview and also brought up the accident on the turnpike, which he actually joked about.
“I just bought it,” he told the hosts of “Ebro in the Morning” earlier this week about his Bugatti. “That car was three minutes and 72 seconds old. I ain’t even turn the radio on. The dealer was still waving goodbye. I called my wife up and I was like ‘Boo, I’m in an accident.’ She said ‘How much we getting?’ I said ‘It wasn’t Walmart.'”
“She think getting hit by trucks is a job,” Morgan continued to joke. “‘You need to get off that $50,000 couch and get on the turnpike and look for a truck now. You ain’t been hit in three or four years.'”
The New Jersey accident has become a part of Morgan’s comedy routine as well, and he recently talked about it during his four-day residency at the New York comedy club Carolines last week.
