As the new season of “Basketball Wives” approaches on June 19 on VH1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the drama is heating up. Shaunie O’Neal, the executive producer of the show and ex-wife of former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal, took to her Instagram Story stating, “With so many things coming back in style I can’t wait till loyalty and morals become the new trend again.”
The “Basketball Wives” fan account screenshotted the post below.
Many fans had thoughts on O’Neal’s post, questioning whether she even knows how to be loyal, especially to cast mate Tami Roman.
“She’s not even loyal friend to Tami sorry, but that’s how I see it.”
“Wonder is Shaunie loyal to Tami. 👀”
“Practice what you preach Shaunie cause chile.”
“Girl Bye. You never can tell Evelyn when she’s wrong regarding your “other friends.”
“Coming from someone who doesn’t know what LOYALTY means. The nerve, she must be talking about herself.🤷🏽♀️”
“Sometimes you have to.listen to your advice because you contradict yourself too much if we are speaking of the show I personally font know how you are in real life. 🤷♂️”
It looks like fans weren’t feeling O’Neal’s post, commenting on what they saw as its hypocrisy. So why are many fans side-eyeing O’Neal? During season 7 of the show, O’Neal and Roman seemed to be going through a rough patch in their friendship when O’Neal was accused of turning on Roman in favor of the latter’s longtime rival Evelyn Lozada for ratings. However, O’Neal claims that she and Roman are still friends.
A fan even commented that she hopes Roman never “F—ks with her again,” to which O’Neal responded with “Welp and three laughing emoji faces.” O’Neal then defended herself against those who accused her of throwing shade to Roman. “@tamiroman and I don’t have any beef… my entire life is not on IG,” said the mother of five.
