Michelle Obama may have some competition from Malaysia Pargo when it comes to her now-iconic Balenciaga boots.
The footwear retails for $4,000 and was first created by Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia in 2016,according to The Cut.
The “Basketball Wives” star recently wore the same thigh-high metallic boots to co-star Jennifer Williams’ sip and shop event last week, which was put on in part to honor Williams’ late mother. The May 1 event primarily celebrated the launch of the first physical location for her Classy Girl Wardrobe clothing line.
Pargo paired the boots with an off-the-shoulder black dress, long cardigan-style sweater and a matching bag. She kept the makeup relatively simple, playing up her eyes some with lashes and adding a metallic look to her eyelids. Her hair was styled in a sleek bob.
Pargo’s take on the pricey boots comes about six months after Obama wore the same footwear to wide acclaim when she promoted her memoir “Becoming” during a chat with Sarah Jessica Parker at Barclays Center in December 2018.
The former first lady caught everyone’s attention with the shimmery shoes, which she paired with a bright yellow wrap dress from the spring/summer 2019 ready-to-wear Balenciaga collection, which was not yet available at the time.
Like Pargo did later on, Obama also kept her makeup relatively simple. Keeping a bold brow, she opted for a reddish-pink lip color and let the dress and the boot soak up all the attention. Her hair was styled in loose, shoulder-length waves.
After fans caught a glimpse of both looks, they let their feelings fly about who pulled off the statement boots the best.
