“Power‘s” 50 Cent and La La Anthony have teamed up for a new drama series on Starz called “Intercepted,” which Anthony will star in. She’ll also wear an executive producer hat, and the show will be developed by Fif’s company G-Unit Films and Television.
The series is based on the best-seller “Intercepted,” written by real-life NFL wife Alexa Martin, who’s married to Derrick Martin, formerly a defensive back with the Baltimore Ravens. The 2018 book is part of a trilogy, with “Blitzed” and “Fumbled” being the follow-ups.
Just like the novel, the new series will center on the character Marlee Harper, played by Anthony, who’s being courted by a new hometown quarterback named Gavin Pope.
This happens after Harper’s relationship with an NFL star ends after a decade and she swore never to date another athlete again.
For her part, Anthony has been married to Carmelo Anthony for nine years, who’s been in the NBA for quite some time, so she’ll have real-life experiences to draw from.
The new show is just one of the projects under 50’s $150 million deal with Starz that was announced in December 2018.
The others include a series based on the Black Mafia Family, the notorious Midwest drug crew that had a nationwide organization, and a prequel to “Power” is coming too.
On top of that, the rapper is releasing a series titled “Vanguard,” about a former Navy SEAL who heads back to his Long Beach, California, neighborhood to deal with former gangster associates who are troubling his family.
Both Anthony and 50 shared the news of their partnership on their Instagram pages, and the excitement from their fans was palpable.
“Tick Tick BOOM đź’Łđź’Ąyou thought I was bullsh—ing,” wrote 50 on Tuesday. “I’m working over here people, 🤔oh and New Music on the way.”
“Super excited for this one with @50cent & Starz,” wrote Anthony. “The POWER is in CREATING YOUR OWN CONTENT & BEING YOUR OWN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER‼️This one is gonna be CRAAZZZYYY.”
“Can’t wait love me some 50 and LaLa,” someone wrote under Anthony’s post.
