Tamar Braxton has firmly moved on from her husband Vince Herbert and she wants that to be reflected legally even though the estranged spouses are still working through the details of their divorce.
Braxton filed papers in a California court recently to request a “status only” divorce, The Blast reported Monday, April 29. Should the request be granted, Braxton and her music executive spouse would be legally single.
“Petitioner seeks a dissolution of her marriage with Respondent based on irreconcilable differences,” reads the documents. “Petitioner believes there is nothing the Court can do to salvage or repair the marriage.”
Still, both parties would have to continue to sort out the specifics of their split, including alimony and custody of their 5-year-old son, Logan. In documents filed in September 2018, Braxton moved to get full custody of her son. That same filing was the first time Braxton served her ex with divorce papers after initially filing to end their union in October 2017.
The September filing came after Braxton was given a stern warning from a judge to speed up the divorce process. The judge said that if the couple did not get a move on the whole thing would be called off due to inactivity.
After Braxton pushed forward, Herbert was given 30 days to respond. He failed to do so, which prompted the “Love and War” singer to press forward with dissolving the union.
The move should come as no surprise, as Braxton seems to be going strong with her boyfriend of about eight months, David Adefeso. The two met last summer and have begun flaunting their romance on “Braxton Family Values” and even more so on social media.
As recently as last week, Braxton mused that she was gaining some weight as she settled into a home she shares with her financial services firm CEO beau.
“It’s late, but I LOVE being at our home downtown,” Braxton wrote on an April 23 Instagram video. “I think that’s why I’m getting thick. love u @david.adefeso.”
Adefeso was just as affectionate with Braxton as she was with him leaving a flirtatious comment.
“Awww babe❤️❤️❤️. I love being with you in our home downtown too💑; and in our home on the west side😍; and on vacation in Jamaica; and in Cabo, and NY, and DC….heck I just love being with you❤️❤️😍😍. Together forever🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰😎🥰🥰🥰😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” he wrote.
And it’s not just Braxton who has found someone new. The star disclosed on a recent “BFV” episode that her son said Herbert “got a wife.”
