Last month, a few days after Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed in Los Angeles, Nick Cannon said he’d complete the rapper’s documentary on the late herbalist Alfredo Bowman, better known as Dr. Sebi.
Sebi caused a stir when he claimed to have the cure for AIDS, and Hussle talked about making the documentary on “The Breakfast Club” in 2018.
Last week, Cannon shared a photo with Dr. Sebi’s first wife Maa Bowman and son Sesa, and based on the caption it seems he’s taken the next step to complete Hussle’s documentary. It also looks like Sebi’s family is involved in the making of it.
“@NickCannon making sure Maa and Sesa (Dr. Sebi’s son) are part of the creative process… Documentary coming soon,” the post read.
Cannon also posed with Abdul, another one of Dr. Sebi’s sons, as well as his grandson Isaiah, and from what the family wrote they’ll also be working on the documentary as well.
“This process is truly a family affair,” the caption read.
Many were clearly excited about the forthcoming documentary and the posts Cannon shared.
“Much Love brother Nick..🖤 #Braver than most. Keep the torch lit…Direction amongst confusion”
“Wisdom Nick!! Marathon Continues with your taking the baton!” another person shared.
There hasn’t been any mention of when the project would be completed or if it’ll focus on Dr. Sebi’s entire life or just a part of it. Cannon also hasn’t mentioned if he reached out to any of Hussle’s family members to get them involved.
In fact, it’s something one of Cannon’s followers brought up, and that person seemed troubled there weren’t any posts of at least one of the late rapper’s family or team members.
“Damn U really taking @nipseyhussle concept and ran with it,” that person wrote under Cannon’s post. “I mean it’s all good I guess 🤷🏽♂️ but where is Blacc Sam (his brother) or somebody from Nipseys camp.”
