While discussing the findings of the finally unveiled but redacted Mueller report, White House correspondent April Ryan held nothing back while remarking on a revelation about White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The report revealed Sanders has been caught lying several times. One of those instances came in May 2017 surrounding the firing of James Comey’s firing as FBI director.
At a press conference at the time, she said the White House had heard from “countless members of the FBI” who got in touch to say they had lost confidence in Comey. That assertion was in response to a reporter who asked her about the FBI agents who said they disagreed with the White House’s assertion that “the rank and file of the FBI had lost confidence in their director.”
“Sanders acknowledged to investigators that her comments were not founded on anything,” the report revealed, saying she called her “countless members” claim “a slip of the tongue,” a “slip” Sanders would go on to repeat in subsequent appearances.
Ryan believes Sanders no longer has credibility.
“Not only does she not have credibility, but she also lied,” the American Urban Radio Network journalist and Washington Bureau Chief said on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront” Thursday, April 18. “The American people can’t trust her. They can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece, spokesperson from the people’s house. Therefore, she should be let go. She should be fired. End of the story. When there is a lack of credibility there, you have to start and start lopping the heads off. It’s fire me Thursday or fire me Good Friday. She needs to go.”
Ryan went on to slam the way Sanders has conducted business during press briefings.
“Sarah plays a dangerous game in that room, and so has [former White House Press Secretary] Sean [Spicer],” Ryan says. “The game is dangerous because she is lying to the American public. Everything comes to the White House — from war to peace and everything in between — and if you can’t trust her talking about that, what can you trust her about?”
“She says the press is fake when she is faking reports from the people’s house,” Ryan adds. “She’s calling us fake. We’ve had colleagues who have moved from their houses because of threats. I have to have security because of being called fake and a loser all sorts of things from that White House. It’s time for her to go.”
Ryan’s remarks won fervent support online.
