LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) — New York state police say rapper Kodak Black was arrested on drug and weapons charges as he tried to cross from Canada into the United States near Niagara Falls.
Police say Bill Kapri, whose stage name is Kodak Black, was among three people spotted Wednesday in the Cadillac Escalade. Black, who was driving, was found with marijuana, and officers discovered a Glock 9mm pistol in the vehicle.
The 21-year-old rapper was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
The news of his arrest comes after he reportedly failed to show up to his show in Boston. His tour bus, however, was there as well as people from his team.
His failure to arrive for his concert had many people reporting that Black had gone missing and his team even said they couldn’t reach the rapper or anyone with him. Concertgoers quickly became angry with the “Zeze” artist after the show ended up being cancelled last minute.
Black was remanded to county jail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney, but he is being held on a $20,000 cash bond or $40,000 bond.
Prior to his arrest, the “No Flockin” rapper made headlines recently after dropping a diss record against T.I. in response to the rapper/actor’s own diss record.
Their beef stems from an ongoing back and forth on social media after T.I. called Black out for his comments about Lauren London and the passing of her late boyfriend rapper/entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle.
“She finna be out here single,” said Black. “She finna be a whole widow out here. I’ll be the best man I could be for her. I’ll give her a whole year, she might need a whole year to be crying and sh-t for dude … I ain’t trying to shoot at her. I’m saying she can do two, three years. I’ll try to be like a friend to holla, a shoulder to lean on. You can call my line.”
Black also faces a charge in South Carolina of first-degree criminal sexual misconduct for allegedly raping a woman after a 2016 concert.
