Wendy Williams may not have given a full-on statement about her pending divorce to estranged husband Kevin Hunter, but now he has.
The talk show host served Hunter with divorce papers last week after he’s been surrounded by longtime cheating and abuse rumors. It’s also been said that he fathered the child of Sharina Hudson, a woman who’s been called his mistress and recently gave birth.
“28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams,” Hunter began. in a statement. “At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world.”
“I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally,” he added. “I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”
The divorce comes at the same time that Williams has been living at a sober facility for addiction, and Hunter’s cheating reportedly is what caused her relapse. But Hunter also revealed that he’s fighting his own addiction battle and is getting help just like Williams.
“I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs,” he stated.
“No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still the Hunter family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine,” added Hunter. “I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you.”
Besides being married to Williams for over 20 years, Hunter has also been the talk show host’s manager and a executive producer on her long-running hit “The Wendy Williams Show.”
However, the Daily Mail reports that Hunter has been fired as manager and executive producer, plus, he was given 48 hours to pack up his belongings in the home that he shares with Williams in Livingston, N.J.
On top of that, a $215,000 Ferrari that he reportedly bought for Hudson has been towed away. In fact, the insider said when Williams saw Hudson in photos driving the luxury vehicle and going out to dinner with Hunter she lost it.
“That’s what tipped her over the edge. She was like, ‘He’s gotta go,'” explained the insider. “She now wants him out of her life completely.”
On Monday, Williams addressed the divorce and said she was setting up a new life for herself and teenage son Kevin Hunter Jr. The 54-year-old also revealed that she’d be leaving her sober facility within days.
“Kevin had expected to stay on at the show and as Wendy’s manager,” said the source. “He ran the show with an iron fist, he was the guy who kept the vultures away.”
