When Nipsey Hussle was gunned down on March 31 in Los Angeles in front of his store The Marathon Clothing, the outpour of emotions from fans came quickly and has grown louder ever since.
Even those who weren’t familiar with the rapper and his music expressed sadness based on the sheer tragedy of it all.
And one person, who understandably took some time before she publicly addressed Hussle’s death, was his longtime girlfriend Lauren London. She has a two-year-old son with the late rapper named Kross.
The first time London broke her silence to the public was on April 2 with a photo of the “Victory Lap” artist. Some might say the pain and utter confusion she expressed was palpable.
“I am completely lost,” she captioned the photo. “I’ve lost my best friend, my sanctuary, my protector my soul. I’m lost without you.”
On Thursday, at Hussle’s memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, many saw London in person for the first time since the murder. And she communicated how much she adored Hussle and felt protected by him. She also spoke of Kross and how he’ll be affected throughout his life.
“My pain is from a 2-year-old that probably won’t remember how much his dad loved him,” she said in dark glasses behind a podium. She concluded her tear-jerking speech with a reminder of her devotion to Hussle, “I love you beyond this Earth and until we meet again, the marathon continues.”
On the same day of the memorial, London showed a massive tattoo of Hussle that she received, which covers most of the inside part of her arm. She explained why she got the tattoo as well.
“Real Love Never Dies,” she wrote on Instagram. “When you see me, you will always see him #LoveYouHussle#TMC.”
“You and Ur family are in my continued thoughts and prayers Sis!” someone commented under the photo.😘”U have exuded such class, undying love, strength, and grace in the midst of the World watching you endure your grief.”
“Simply beautiful,” wrote another.
On Wednesday, after the service, London shared a photo of her and the iconic rapper, showing both of them dressed to the nines in a shot from their GQ editorial spread.
“King Ermias! Love you forever and even after that” she captioned the image, using Hussle’s real name.
