‘No Dang Tummy Tuck!’ Tamar Braxton Working Extra Hard to Shed 20 Pounds In Time for Her Birthday

Tamar Braxton took home the grand prize on “Celebrity Big Brother” last month, but she also went home several pounds heavier.

The star dished on her weight gain during a stop on “The Wendy Williams Show” March 5 and explained she’s eager to get her body into gear for her birthday.

“I gained about 20 pounds,” she said. “I’m still trying to lose it. It’s my birthday month and you know I take my birthday very serious.”

Braxton likened the experience to jail but then admitted it was “one of the best experiences that I’ve ever signed up to do.”

While Tamar did get some workouts in while she was in the “Big Brother” house, she likely couldn’t get in the kind of regimens she did back when she revealed she shed 20 pounds in July 2018.

By the looks of her Instagram Story over the last several weeks, she’s certainly been putting the work in to get back in fighting shape. This comes in the month since she left “Big Brother” with $250,000 in winnings.

A recent Instagram Live stream from the singer showed her working up a serious sweat at KTX’s Hip Hop Spin Class. Based in Atlanta, KTX Fitness was in Los Angeles over the weekend for a pop-up class, and Braxton was right there with her pal James Wright Channel on Sunday, March 10.

Channel cheered on his friend as she bobbed and twerked on a stationary bicycle to bass-heavy beats, including Drake’s “Nonstop.”

“Hey!” Braxton exclaimed as she followed Channel’s instructions to put her arm up.

This time, it’s likely she won’t have to defend herself against claims she got a tummy tuck as she did back in November of last year.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a video from Snapchat of her panning down to her solid-looking abs.

“My surgery is the damn gym 🙄 try it!!! It works🙌🏾,” she wrote over the video at the time.

Adding to her dismantling of the rumor in the caption the star said, “I love y’all…(some of y’all)🤓….but I didn’t have no dang tummy tuck!!! 🙃 There is something called HARD work!!! Plus I love to workout… sometimes😩😩😂😂. NOW let’s get back to the videos 💦😍”

Braxton turns 42 on March 17.

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
