Social media users are sending R&B artist K. Michelle a slew of birthday shoutouts as she celebrates with a solemn trip on the road.
The “Rebellious Soul” singer seems to be celebrating her 35th birthday with a relaxing getaway, allowing herself to rejuvenate. She took to Instagram on Sunday, March 3, and shared a video of her scenic road trip. She appeared to be in a car with longtime companion Kastan Sims, who seemed to be at the wheel. K. Michelle recorded her trip while blasting Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway’s classic duet “The Closer I Get To You.”
“Road tripping and regrouping🌻,” the musician wrote.
She also added an image of herself positioned atop a white Rolls-Royce coupe with a cigar in her hand while parked in front of a backdrop of mountains. She reflected on the vow she made to herself last year to live out her dreams.
“Putting some miles on my babygirl road tripping for my birthday,” K. Michelle wrote, referencing her Rolls-Royce. “Thanking God for another year to be great. I promised my self that after last year I would live out all my dreams this year without explanation 🌻.”
Fans inundated the R&B musician with a gang of “happy birthday” wishes.
“Got to stay on the move!” one fan wrote. “Happy birthday queen 💛😍.”
Another added, “K Michelle thank you for your motivation you give to people and your unfiltered mouth. You are such an awesome person. Happy Birthday Pisces 🎂!”
“Girl sometimes we just need to getaway anywho Happy Birthday K Hope You Enjoyed Your Day 😍.”
“I’m glad you are enjoying your birthday you definitely deserve happiness HBD 🎂❣️ beautiful.. grow richly.”
K. Michelle later added a video of her and her ostensible boo Sims at a go-kart track. The pair haven’t publicly made an appearance together since the beginning of 2018, but they seem to be still going strong in their relationship. For Valentine’s Day, K. Michelle posted a few photos of herself sporting sexy lingerie and tagged “Dr. Sims” in her photo caption.
K. Michelle and Sims have known each other since high school and remained friends throughout the peak of her music career. She told Essence in 2017 that Sims was the “type of man” she needed to be with.
“We’ve been friends for over 19 years now, and I just looked at him and said this is the type of man that I should be with, someone who is my friend.”
