“T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle” star Toya Wright received a barrage of backlash from social media users after seemingly posting an image of herself before making her way to Precious Harris‘ funeral.
Harris, 66, the sister of Atlanta rapper T.I., died on Feb. 22, days after suffering a severe asthma attack that led to a Feb. 13 car accident. Several friends of T.I. and his sister’s family attended the service to pay their respects to the mother of three, including Wright.
The 36-year-old reality veteran, who’s besties with Tiny Harris, T.I.’s wife, took to Instagram on Sunday and posted an image of herself seemingly dressed in her funeral wear. Her all-black look included a blazer, tank top, jeans, and a Chanel brooch and handbag. She then posed for a photo in front of her home and shared it to social media.
Wright also posted a photo of Harris’ obituary that read “What a Precious Life Lived.” She added in her caption, “@preciousharris1913 you will forever be missed. #flyhighpreciousangel 🕊👼🏽🙏🏾.”
However, some fans felt Wright was “disrespectful” for posing for a photo while heading to or leaving a funeral.
“Personally I just don’t think it’s cute to take a picture going to a funeral unless it’a a family photo but regardless she is attention seeking. At the very least the picture of the obituary should’ve been first,” one person commented on the reality star’s post.
Another Instagram user chimed in and wrote, “@toyawright It’s a personal choice however you can understand why ppl are shocked by it. It’s just a time where usually ppl don’t even think to pose for a picture 🤦.”
A fan of Wright’s jumped to her defense against those criticizing her post.
“For those saying she is attention seeking and making it about herself you can clearly see she took the picture at home and not the funeral!!”
The reality veteran stepped into her thread and shot back at negative Nellies slamming her intentions.
“People are so stupid. They find anything to talk about.” She continued, “this pic was taken way after honey at my home. … I don’t need you telling me what pic should go first or last. If you don’t like my sharing you know what to do.”
Wright was one of several celebrities who reportedly showed up to Harris’ funeral service. Show business types that included Monica Brown, KeKe Wyatt, Kandi Burruss and many others attended her burial service and home-going party to pay their respects.
Rapper T.I. shared a post of his and his family’s festive celebration thrown for his late sister.
“I promised to celebrate your Life and damnit that’s EXACTLY WHAT WE DID!!!” he wrote on Sunday. “Thanks to all the family ,friends , and supporters who been lifting us up in prayer and came out to show LOVE for my BIG Sister!!!!”
