Fabolous is about to accept a plea deal in the domestic assault case involving his rumored wife Emily B.
In exchange for the plea, the Brooklyn rapper will reportedly avoid jail time and instead attend domestic violence prevention classes that will last between six months and a year.
Before the deal was able to be presented, Fabolous had to plead guilty to one of two charges: brandishing a weapon for holding scissors during an incident last March with Emily B, or threatening domestic violence, but it hasn’t been revealed which charge he plans to plead guilty to.
That could be because his lawyer, Brian Neary, asked the judge for more time so he could clear a few things up with the prosecutor.
The rapper and Neary appeared in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court on Jan. 28 to accept the deal, and if Fabolous stays out of trouble during the workshops the charge will be wiped from his record.
The “Make Me Better” creator was facing a 20-year prison sentence if he didn’t accept a deal and was convicted on the original charges, which were felony domestic violence with significant bodily injury, two counts of making threats and one count of possession of a weapon.
Most probably became aware of the case after a video surfaced in March of last year that showed the rapper lunging and yelling at Emily B. It also shows Fabolous and Emily B’s father screaming at each other, and Fab had to be restrained. You can clearly see the scissors in his hand and hear him threaten to shoot her father.
Fabolous was also accused of punching Emily B in the face, as well as knocking out some of her teeth, and in July 2018 he rejected a plea deal that would’ve placed him in a first-time offenders program. He also pleaded not guilty to the charges in October 2018.
Around that same time, the rapper was seen sporting a diamond wedding band on his finger at the BET Awards, and fans immediately expected that he and Emily B had tied the knot.
Over the entire course of the domestic assault case, Emily B has stood by Fabolous’ side and accompanied him to court. Plus, her father said he’d be willing to testify on the rapper’s behalf.
The couple have two children together, and some of their relationship was documented on past seasons of “Love & Hip-Hop” when Emily B was a cast member.
