Fans of “Love and Hip Hop: New York” star Cyn Santana are still angry after a radio interview of what some interpret as her bashing Black women resurfaced on the Internet last week.
Santana took to social media on Thursday to have an open discussion after seemingly implying that Black men treat Latina women better than Black women.
“The shit is heavy and uncomfortable as F–K but I ain’t turning my backs on y’all. I think this conversation is important,” Santana wrote on her Instagram post. “A snippet of a podcast I did in 2016 is going around in which I said some unfavorable things. I didn’t properly articulate myself. I was speaking about my preference in Black men vs the Latino man. I didn’t intend to bash Black women.”

The 26-year-old also apologized to fans for her seemingly racist comments and affirmed that she wasn’t racist.
“The truth is I said some dumb bird shit and it has offended and hurt MANY, especially Black women, so for that I want to wholeheartedly sincerely apologize. And I will continue to do so. I’m not a racist,” she continued.
“Basketball Wives of L.A.” actress Tami Roman joined Santana’s open discussion with fans and felt Santana’s interview was taken out of context.
“Niece, listen that was three years ago & you’re a different person now than then. I’ve bee around you and you’re Blacker than me. We’re hearing a snippet of a bigger conversation & thus its being taken out of context,” Roman wrote.
However, Santana’s discussion or apology wasn’t received well by fans who felt her insensitive comments were purposely attacking Black women.
“As a man I would even say this was very insensitive on your part,” one person wrote. “You been better off not saying anything, take this time to reflect and don’t apologize now bc you meant every word you said on that interview 🙄🙄.”
“Sis you’re cancelled! You knew what you said about Black women don’t try and play victim now! You’re only apologizing because you’re in hot water 🤮!”

A 2016 segment of Angela Yee’s podcast “Lip Service” resurfaced on Jan. 9 of Santana talking about why she preferred to date Black men over Latino men. However, in mid-sentence of the interview, Santana found herself insinuating that Black men put Latinas on a higher pedestal than Black women.
“Black guys cater to us Spanish girls, especially,” she said. “Like, they… you know what, let me not get into it. Black girls gonna take it personal. They gonna be like, ‘Uh-uh!'”
Santana has repeatedly apologized for her remarks and by claiming that she “didn’t put much thought into what” she said at the time.
“I’ve never bashed a Black woman in my life. NEVER have and never WILL. It ain’t in ME,” Santana tweeted.
