Since coming clean about her battle with Graves disease in February, Wendy Williams has made some changes to her show. One marked change is that she abandoned the high heels she once wore in favor of flats and sneakers. But a new development has made fans speculate there’s something more serious going on.
During a holiday gifts segment last Monday, Williams sat as Good Housekeeping style director Lori Bergamotto went through a set of possible presents. Typically, Williams and her guest will walk around and pick up the various nicknacks. Then, on a Dec. 12 edition of Ask Wendy, the host leaned on a clear podium when she typically stands with just cards and a microphone in hand.
Several fans have been wondering about the shift.
“Why has Wendy been sitting lately? She’s definitely not doing well.”
“What’s going on with Wendy? She seems off🤔”
“Why is Wendy sitting today?”
“Something’s off …she was sitting during the Wendy’s deals and now has that podium to lean on during ask Wendy with shaky hands …”
“What’s with the podium??”
“Sitting down during these segments? That’s new mmmm.”
“just a thought and i’m sure some others have said this… but is the podium to help wendy stand up? Is she doing okay?”
Catching wind of the wondering from fans, Williams addressed the chatter on her show.
“You all notice that I sit a lot. I love to have several seats,” she says. “I don’t just sit here. I’ve been sitting in the audience, I sit to do demo projects as well. You know why? ‘Cause I want to. ‘Cause this is my show and this is how I want t do it. I bust my ass on this show every single day.”
Williams added that there are aspects of her work viewers don’t see like her traveling for gigs for a night and flying back to New York film her daytime show.
“There is not a talk show host day or not that does it better than me,” she says to thunderous applause. “I’m not running so hard anymore. … It’s my party. Welcome to it. And in terms of how I’m feeling, I’m feeling swell.”
But Williams’ defiant remarks did little to calm fans’ fears.
“Ok Wendy, you were way too defensive with that intro to Hot Topics. Something is going on. I notice she drags certain stories on for too long.”
“Wendy quit lying. She’s obviously very ill. The other day during hot topics her hands were shaking like crazy and she can’t stand for a 2 minute segment? She aint that tired.”
“She’s very defensive all the time — clearly hiding something.”
