After discussing the love life of co-star Porsha Williams, Kandi Burruss’ own past dating history came to light following Sunday night’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
When “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen asked Burruss’ pal and fellow Xscape member Tameka “Tiny” Harris if there was any celebrity that the public would be surprised to learn about Burruss dating, Harris initially indicated there wasn’t one.
“I think you probably know them already,” Harris said on the Dec. 9 episode of the late-night talk show. Then, when Cohen asked for one name, Harris offered up late R&B star Gerald Levert.
Cohen seemed only mildly surprised while Twitter users were completely losing it.
“Kandi and Gerald Levert?! Whattttt #WWHL”
“Damn Kandi went with Gerald Levert wow. #WWHL”
“Kandi Burruss dated Gerald Levert?! Am I the only person who didn’t know that? Lol that’s such an odd couple to me.”

Burruss reportedly discussed dating the Levert frontman in a 2015 interview.
“[My daughter] Riley was 6 months old when I met Gerald and we started dating,” she said according to I Love Old School Music. That would mean the couple got together in early 2003. The singer and reality star also reportedly admitted in a separate radio interview that she and Levert dated for around two years.
The pair’s break up came a year before Levert died of a fatal mix of prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications, an autopsy concluded.
But even in the years since, Burruss has maintained a relationship with his family. Levert’s father and The O’Jays lead vocalist Eddie Levert went on to star in Burruss’ 2013 play, “A Mother’s Love.”
