‘Today the Journey Begins’: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Dishes on His ‘Mommy-Daddy’ Duties Following Kim Porter’s Death

It’s been a little over two weeks since Kim Porter passed away, and the father of her children Sean “Diddy” Combs just gave his first update on how he’s coping.

The rap mogul posted a video on his IG Stories while he drove his kids to school and let everyone know that he’s fully embracing the dual parenting role. Diddy also acknowledged that he’s doing what single mothers have been doing forever.

“Today the journey begins,” he said. “I’m now part of the 6:00 a.m. crew. This is mommy slash daddy, daddy slash mommy checking in. So this daddy, mommy thing is beautiful. Love it. You just have to get up early in the morning. Like, real early … All my single mothers, ya’ll know what that is, even some single fathers, gotta step up and play both rolls. Mothers do it all the time.”

Diddy’s post sparked plenty of reaction.

“I salute you for the shout out and realizing that being a mom and dad isn’t easy as others think it is,” one fan wrote. “My condolences to you and the children and the whole family life isn’t easy, but you will get through this with much strength from God. Coming from a single mom, if I can do this day today you can too. It’s a whole new lifestyle, but your already looking so good at it, even tired.”

Quincy Brown, Kim’s eldest son with Al B. Sure, also left a message in light of his mother’s passing. Diddy adopted Brown when he was just a child during his time with Kim.

“You showed me how to simply live life and be happy no matter the circumstances,” wrote Quincy. “So that’s exactly what I’m doing. I miss you and love you so much, mommy.”
