K. Michelle was filled with emotion after receiving praise from one of her favorite singers.
The “Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood” star sat down with R&B soul singer Ledisi on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the 2018 Soul Train Awards post-show. She congratulated the “I Blame You” singer for her winning the Soul Train Certified Award for her “gift of song.”
K. Michelle told Ledisi on the post-show that she deserved to be honored for her beautiful voice. She added, “I look up to you, and I’m very happy for you because you deserve it.”
The mother of one also shared a moment of her sit-down with Ledisi and captioned the image “Queen things❤️.” She added, “This meant everything to me. @ledisi you are a singer. You just sing. … YOU have never ever judged me and just supported my voice even if no one ever I’ve supported my actions. 😘 You guys don’t understand the admiration I have for real singing R&B artist.”
Ledisi responded to K. Michelle’s heartfelt compliment with an ardent response of her own.
“You my Dear K you are GOLDEN!” the award-winning singer replied. “If ever you need a reminder remember what I told you when the cameras wasn’t rolling. I don’t want nothing from you just another woman/Black woman supporting you sis… Tell your beautiful mom I said hi! She did good. … So PROUD! Keep evolving❤️.”
Ledisi’s sincere’s response was enough to send the “Mindful” singer to tears. K. Michelle went on to tell fans that Ledisi has always respected and supported her gift.
“Welp, i’m in tears for the night! Thank you @ledisi you know how much I respect and appreciate your words and voice,” K. Michelle wrote on Instagram Tuesday evening. “I’ve never cared about the opinions of others in the industry, but I’ve always cherished those with real talent who have uplifted. When being around great women you have no choice but to elevate the level of your being. You and @anitabaker ‘s support and gift CHANGED ME! Thank you!”
