Steve Harvey is known for his comedic abilities, but it seems he also wants his credit for being a sex symbol.
The star’s Instagram account for his talk show “Steve” jokingly took matters into their own hands to make that happen when they posted a mockup of People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” cover. While actor Idris Elba got the honor this year, @stevetvshow indicated Harvey was the rightful cover star.
“@people announced their Sexiest Man Alive but released the wrong cover. Good thing we’ve got it. Maybe next year @idriselba,” read the caption for the cover, which replaced Elba’s face with Harvey’s.

“Steve Harvey, Sexiest Man Alive! 2018,” the cover read. “The amazing rise of the sweet, smoldering superstar.”
Fans cracked up at the faux cover.
“I’m crying 😂😂😂”
“They don’t know, Steve! Tell them 😂🔥”

“Really thought this was the real issue for a minute😂😂”
Others lauded the idea of Harvey getting the title.
“I’ll take steve sexiest man alive any day. Like him with a clean shave more tho he looks a bit older with the beard. Just saying!!!”

Of course, this year’s Sexiest Man Alive cover actually goes to Elba, who told the publication he was in disbelief about the title.
“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” he told People. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
Still, Elba didn’t always have envious looks. He said those didn’t come until some facial hair came in.
“I was very tall and skinny,” he said. “And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, OK? I got picked on a little bit. But again, as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers.”
