Meghan McCain Flies Into a Rage, Doesn’t Realize Co-Host Sunny Hostin Isn’t Attacking Her Directly

The View‘s Meghan McCain fumed Tuesday as co-host Sunny Hostin criticized conservatives for their fearmongering about the caravan of Brown immigrants currently making its way through Mexico en route to the southern U.S. border.

Things got heated during a discussion about the estimated 7,200 Central American migrants making their way through Mexico to the United States, fleeing violence and turmoil in their home countries. McCain grew frustrated, however, when Hostin challenged her notion that folks on the left want “open borders and no consequences whatsoever” for undocumented immigrants.

“When you see these images, this is a conservative fever dream and a gift to the midterm elections because this is exactly what conservatives think people on the left want to have happen in this country,” McCain began. “I am not saying not accepting refugees or LEGAL immigration — what a lot of people on the left are saying, no one at this table, is that you want open borders and no consequences.”

“I wish that then the people on the right would tell the truth about what’s really happening in immigration,” Hostin cut in.

Clearly offended, McCain, 33, accused her co-host of calling her liar.

“Did you just accuse me of not telling the truth?” she barked. “I’m on the right.”

Hostin tried to explaining her position only for McCain to cut her off yet again, even after Hostin emphasized that her comment wasn’t personally directed at McCain. That did little to defuse the situation.

“I’m more extreme on this issue than I think people realize,” McCain continued, talking over her co-host. “I come from a border state.”

Hostin finally managed to get a word in and schooled her colleague in the demographics of undocumented migrants, noting that 41 percent of the undocumented are from Asia and a large chunk are also from Sweden and Canada.

“They aren’t on that caravan, and I wish people on the right pointed that out,” she said. “It’s always about brown and Black people and that’s not the truth.”

Amid the applause, Hostin reiterated she wasn’t personally attacking her co-host.
