Floyd Mayweather and DJ Khaled Sued For Alleged Cryptocurrency Scam

A group of investors is suing boxer Floyd Mayweather and DJ Khaled after accusing them of endorsing a company involved in an alleged cryptocurrency scam.

The group of plaintiffs, who filed a class-action lawsuit, said they lost millions of dollars to a company called Centra Tech and claimed celebrity endorsers Mayweather and Khaled encouraged them to invest.

At one point, both men posted ads on their social media pages about the company and encouraged people to use its coins. But that was before Centra Tech’s founders were arrested and charged with wire and securities fraud, as well as conspiracy.

The Securities and Exchange Commission also accused the founders of duping investors and creating names of phony executives on its website.

Centra Tech reportedly raised $32 million from investors, and the plaintiffs said that wouldn’t have occurred if Mayweather and Khaled didn’t champion the company. The group is trying to get all of their money back in the suit, including damages.

Besides facing the suit, Mayweather may be coming out of retirement to fight UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov after Nurmagomedov and his manager called him out earlier this week. Earlier this month, Nurmagomedov beat Connor McGregor in their UFC Lightweight Championship match. McGregor went 10 rounds before being stopped by Mayweather in their August 2017 boxing match. A match with Nurmagomedov would mark Mayweather’s second bout against an MMA-fighter-turned-boxer.

“Oh, we’re fighting,” Mayweather told TMZ. “I’m my own boss. I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end, on my end we can make it happen. … I’m getting a nine-figure payday.”

Floyd hasn’t said anything about the class-action suit at this time, nor has Khaled.
