Geoffrey Owens will make his way to the OWN network after has recent job-shaming ordeal.
The former “Cosby Show” actor reportedly accepted Tyler Perry’s job offer and will be starring in “The Haves and the Have Nots,” TMZ reported. Owens was humiliated and job-shamed after a shopper posted on Twitter a photo of him working at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s. Several celebrities and many fans subsequently jumped to his defense, including Perry.
The “Good Deeds” director tweeted Owens on Sept 4 and wrote, “I’m about to start shootings OWN’s number one drama next week! Come join us!!! I have so much respect for people who hustle between gigs. The measure of a true artist.”
During an interview with “Good Morning America,”, Owens called Perry’s offer “very generous” and said it was “encouraging.”
The 57-year-old will be starring on 10 episodes of OWN’s hit drama. Owens is scheduled to fly to Atlanta sometime next week to start filming season 6.
Owens is most known for his role as Sondra Huxtable’s doctor husband Elvin Tibideaux. He starred on “The Cosby Show” from 1985 to 1992.
