Beyoncé and Jay-Z Announce Million Dollar Scholarship Award

Music power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z have decided to help high school students by giving away a total of $1 million in scholarship money.

The musicians teamed up with their foundations “The BeyGOOD Initiative” and “The Shawn Carter Foundation” to aid high school seniors who plan on continuing with college afterward. The applicants must “demonstrate academic excellence and show financial needs that would make it hard for them to enter a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019,” according to a press release.

$100,000 of scholarship money will go towards “one exceptional senior high school student with financial needs” to use for their education and will be “put toward their enrollment in a college or university.”

The award requirements state that seniors must live in one of the 11 cities where the “On The Run Tour II” is taking place. The cities include Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Seattle. A total of 11 high school students will be chosen by the “Boys and Girls Club of America” in their city.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z will dish out a total of $1.1 million dollars to students.

The couple is known for their charitable abilities. “Queen Bey” just recently awarded a total of $100,000 to four HBCU female students who participated in her “Homecoming Scholars Program.”
