Rapper Da Brat has recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after amassing more than $7,700,000 in debt.
The “Dish Nation” host’s filing, which was obtained by The Blast Wednesday, Aug. 22, states she has a total of $108,700.65 in assets but has $7,782,249.57 in total liabilities.
Da Brat, whose bankruptcy filing is still pending, has assets including a 1999 Mercedes 238i worth $5,000 a 2014 BMW 328i worth $15,000, and a 2016 Jeep Wrangler worth $23,000. Da Brat’s filing also includes also lists furniture and household goods listed at $8,000 worth, $3,000 in electronics and a treadmill and elliptical worth $2,000. The clothing she deems necessary for her career is valued at $20,0000. She also has three dogs worth no money and two $15,000 necklaces worth. There are also various music royalties with an undisclosed value.
Among what she owes, the rapper has to fork over $12,000 to Ally Bank and $1,255,128 to Sony Music Entertainment, which is the parent company of her label So So Def. Da Brat also owes $2,284 to her credit card company and has $2,284 she needs to give to the Georgia Department of Revenue. Plus, she owes an untold amount to the IRS.
But the biggest amount of debt Da Brat has is $6.4 million she’s still due to pay to Shayla Stevens, a former cheerleader whom she was found guilty of smashing in the face with a bottle in a club back in 2007.
That case led Wendy Williams in 2017 to call out Da Brat to say she couldn’t afford to pay out the then $7.8 million settlement with her “Dish Nation” income. The MC clapped back but a large sum of the debt still remains eight months later.
As for what Da Brat brings home, the documents state she has a monthly income of $9,319 as an entertainer/radio personality. However, she has a total of $10,506.55 in monthly expenses. That means she’s got a deficit of $1,187 each month.
So far this year, the “Funkdafied” performer has made $75,000 compared to the $106,000 she earned last year and the $92,000 she got in 2016.
