Toya Wright is opening up about her hair loss after giving birth to 6-month-old daughter Reign. In the video posted to her Instagram, Wright is seen running her hands through her natural hair and revealing the hair loss to her followers.
In the caption, the reality star explained that her hair loss is a condition called postpartum alopecia. “Postpartum Alopecia Is so real… I didn’t know why my hair was falling out. I just noticed my edges and the middle of my hair were getting super thin. Every time I would wash my hair it would come out in chunks. I’ve always had full edges,” Wright wrote. “I did some research and found out that new moms are surprised to be shedding more hair than usual in the first few months after giving birth, but it’s perfectly normal. there’s no need to panic.”
Wright tried to reassure women going through similar hair loss after childbirth. ” Your hair should be back to normal around your baby’s first birthday. That’s way too long to be without edges but it’s a part of the beauty of giving birth.” She jokingly continued, ” I just wanted to share that with you ladies. Who else is experiencing postpartum hair loss? …..cause I don’t like it 😫!! #imbaldbihhhh”
Moms and fans chimed in with tips and gratitude that Wright shared her story.
“Yes this happen to me but only after my 3rd child.. edges in all . I had to clip my ends . My hair was so full in pretty wen I was pregnant, now it’s all tryn to come back together🤦🏽♀️😭”
“I lost mine, too. I’m currently taking good hair vitamins with biotin. And wearing a wig for now. It’s growing, slowly 😊”

Wright isn’t the only celeb that opened up postpartum hair loss. Her former bestie Tamar Braxton addressed the comments about her edges thinning before she shaved her hair off. “When u HAVE your baby …(my son) your hair falls out!!” she said back in 2014. “Thanks to @simplicityhairoil for my hairline coming back! But if it didn’t work I would BUY me some. Glad you all get to see the changes while #bfv & #T&V on T.V.
