Tami Roman Says ‘Basketball Wives’ Affected Her Reputation

Tami Roman is gearing up to strike out on her own outside of “Basketball Wives” with a new reality series. And she just admitted that her negative perception on the Shaunie O’Neal-executive produced show has weighed on her.

“I think it was time. I’ve been a part of the ‘Basketball Wives’ franchise since 2010 — and it hasn’t been for lack of trying to have my own situation, because we tried several times,” Roman told Life & Style on Monday, July 23. “But I do also think it’s just a matter of timing. They say, ‘If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans,’ and I think you have to do things when it’s ordered by him — not to get too spiritual. But I feel like it’s the right time for this moment to happen because people have seen me one way on ‘Basketball Wives’ for so long and eventually that takes its toll on public perception of you.”

Roman is no stranger to backlash as she’s faced tons of it this season on the show, especially when fans went after her for saying Evelyn Lozada lied about then-husband Chad Johnson abusing her.

So now, Roman is set to star in a new show called “Beverly Trill Billies,” on which she and long-time boyfriend Reggie Youngblood will explore life in Los Angeles with their blended families. The show, which references the 1960s sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies,” will see how Youngblood’s Houston-based family and Roman’s city-dwelling brood will fare together.

“I’m thankful that the spin-off is coming now because I get to show the many different facets and dimensions that aren’t actually seen on ‘Basketball Wives,'” Tami said of the upcoming show.”You know I have this great guy, I have great children, I have a great career, I do a lot of philanthropy work, I’m involved socially in my community and outreach programs and I have an amazing blended family, and so it felt like the right time to do something like this.”

Roman’s fans instantly ate up the news.

“I’m here for it 🤣👏🏾.”

“I will be watching… you have been interesting to me since The RealWorld.. congrats🎉🎉🎉🍾.”

“You go girl Sprinkle That Black Girl Magic Everywhere you go 🙌🏽.”
