Tami Roman isn’t afraid to hit back at her critics and on a recent Instagram post relating to her health, there was no exception.
The “Basketball Wives” star has been candid about her weight loss stemming from her diabetes and she opened up even more to Shape magazine recently.
“We’re seeing people in their 30s dropping dead of heart attacks,” she told the fitness magazine. “People really need to make a conscious decision. It won’t be instant. It takes you time to gain the weight; it’ll take time to lose it.”
But while Roman has increased her exercising, explaining she went from working out for 10 minutes until ultimately getting up to 30 minutes,” she hasn’t necessarily cut back on drinking and smoking. And an alleged nurse in the actresses’ Instagram comments wasn’t pleased about that.
“I can’t even take her serious when she chain smokes and drinks,” the user said. “As a nurse, I have seen first hand the damage of having diabetes and SMOKING can do.”
Yet Roman defended her actions, chalking smoking up to being an addictive habit and tearing into the user for not offering any advice on quitting.
“@luckiecharmsdp thanks for judging instead of offering outlets & methods to help me quit…you know as a nurse and all…smoking is a nasty addiction and it’s been challenging, but surprisingly others not in the medical field are helping me to overcome it. Thank goodness! You work where sis? They should know about your negative social media practices.”
Fans also took up for the star.
“Girl you did that. I’m so glad you put it out there.”
“Tami Roman thank you from all the rest of us who have walked the walk to losing substantial weight and improved our lives in doing so.”
“You look great. You know in everything you do you gonna have haters. Someone once told me if everyone likes you then something is wrong. Do your thing.”
Roman has been honest about her weight loss on the latest season of “Basketball Wives,” explaining that the health condition has had a serious impact on her waistline.
“I’m a diabetic, okay? So for me my weight is very serious,” she explained to co-star Jackie Christie. “I finally decided to take charge of my f—ing life so that I can live for my kids and my man, and so because of that I lose weight. I’m 48 years old. You know what I’m saying? So this is how my body reacts to me making proper choices with my diet.”
