Sanaa Lathan has been outed by Tiffany Haddish as the person who bit Beyoncé and for the first time on television, the “Nappily Ever After” actress is addressing the story that took the internet by storm.
“Me and my friends, we laughed our asses off,” Lathan tells CBS’s “The Talk” Tuesday, July 3. “We thought it was funny. I mean, it was so absurd. The hashtag #WhoBitBeyoncé, it was just this big whodunit.
“You know, I’ve had lots of rumors over the years and after so many of them, you get a thick skin,” she added without ever confirming nor denying the rumor.
Haddish had social media sleuths on their toes back in March when she told GQ about an incident at one of Jay-Z’s concert afterparties in December.
“There was this actress there that’s just, like, doing the mostest. She bit Beyoncé in the face,” Haddish said. “So Beyoncé stormed away, went up to Jay-Z, and was like, ‘Jay! Come here! This b—-’ and snatched him. They went to the back of the room. I was like, ‘What just happened?’ And Beyoncé’s friend walked up and was like, ‘Can you believe this b—- just bit Beyoncé?’”
While “The Talk” co-host Sara Gilbert noted Beyoncé’s stepdad Richard Lawson shot down the rumor — he told People magazine it was “a bunch of crap” and “there’s nothing to it” — an insider informed TMZ Lathan was the one responsible for the chomping.
The actress has addressed the speculation before, initially tweeting, “under no circumstances did I bite Beyonce and if I did it would’ve been a love bite 💋.”
She later told Health magazine she “would never do anything malicious like that to her or to anyone. It’s so bizarre. I thought it was the funniest thing ever that it was a news story. It’s so crazy.”
Still, Haddish has given the final word on the incident confirming once and for all in June that Lathan is the biter.
“I’m super good friends with her stepmom [Marguerite Latan] and her dad [producer/director Stan Lathan] and they were mad at me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “They were like, ‘Why would you do this to the family? You know, Black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it’s so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?’”
“But I didn’t try to ruin her career,” Haddish added. “I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin’ to jail that night.”
Meanwhile, “The Talk” viewers went after Lathan for not outright owning up to biting Bey.
“Lies! She know she bit Beyoncé😂😂😂😂.”
“Girl you know you bit Beyonce 😂🤣😂😉.”
“She bit her, lol. She should have said, ‘Yeah I did it, it was a love bite.'”
