It was the bite practically heard around the world earlier this year when Tiffany Haddish said an inebriated actress bit Beyoncé at an afterparty in 2017.
Haddish had internet sleuths working overtime to discover which star nibbled on Queen Bey’s face.
“There was this actress there that’s just, like, doing the mostest,” Haddish told GQ in March. “She bit Beyoncé in the face.”
“So Beyoncé stormed away, went up to Jay-Z, and was like, ‘Jay! Come here! This b—-’ and snatched him,” Haddish continued. “They went to the back of the room. I was like, ‘What just happened?’ And Beyoncé’s friend walked up and was like, ‘Can you believe this b—- just bit Beyoncé?’”
Speculation ran rampant over which actresses could have been the culprit. Lena Dunham and Jennifer Lawrence were among them but one actress stood out above the rest: Sanaa Lathan.
However, the “Nappily Ever After” actress denied the allegations by tweeting, “under no circumstances did I bite Beyonce and if I did it would’ve been a love bite.”
Still, sources said it was Lathan who was responsible and the actress addressed the chatter once again with Health magazine in May.
“I think it’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever been involved with … I adore Beyoncé,” she said. “I would never do anything malicious like that to her or to anyone. It’s so bizarre. I thought it was the funniest thing ever that it was a news story. It’s so crazy.”
But Haddish on Wednesday confirmed Lathan was indeed the biter. And when the “Girls Trip” actress put Lathan on blast, she got a mouthful from the star’s parents.
“I’m super good friends with her stepmom [Marguerite Latan] and her dad [producer/director Stan Lathan] and they were mad at me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter June 13. “They were like, ‘Why would you do this to the family? You know, Black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it’s so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?'”
“But I didn’t try to ruin her career,” Haddish added. “I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin’ to jail that night. I coulda just shut my whole career down.”
Still, if things are a bit tense with the Lathans, Beyoncé — despite having Haddish sign an NDA in the past — isn’t upset about things.
“We’ve talked since then, and it’s been cool,” the actress told People magazine last month. “Nobody’s trippin’ except for everybody else.”
Meanwhile, fans have been sounding off on the final confirmation.
“I’m so tired of Tiffany Haddish addressing these Sanaa Lathan/Beyonce rumors. Like seriously sis, let it go!”
“She talks too much.”
“So Sanaa Lathan is the suspected person that bit Beyonce. Not that I give a damn but the fact they bashing Tiffany Haddish in the comments talking about she annoying and not funny but y’all was all for her when you wanted her to drop a name.”
