After Dame Dash made headlines for confronting Lee Daniels over the $5 million he owes him, many fans have been saying Mo’Nique has been vindicated and the comic is thanking folks for the support.
“Hey, my babies. I wanna thank y’all for sharing the love and showing me the videotape with Lee Daniels vindicating Dame Dash,” the star says of the viral clip of Dash — who has filed a lawsuit — facing Daniels at a Diana Ross concert.
She then encouraged viewers to check out audio of a secretly recorded phone call between herself, husband Sidney Hicks and Tyler Perry, in which he admitted her reputation for being hard to work with was “unfair” and promised to get her paid for promoting “Precious,” which she was only paid $50,000 to make.
“That brother says we did absolutely nothing wrong and he would come [out] with it publicly, but he never did,” Mo’Nique says. “And for the brothers and sisters who are coming in right now tonight saying ‘Mo, we are so sorry for not believing you and bashing you,’ I wanna thank y’all. But … if y’all can say y’all are sorry for it, when are the billionaires gonna take accountability and responsibility?
“If I’m not lying on Lee Daniels and I’m not lying on Tyler Perry, why ever would I be lying on Oprah Winfrey? Take a listen and see what y’all think,” she concludes.
Last year, Mo’Nique went on record to blast Perry, Oprah Winfrey and Daniels and stated she had been underpaid and treated unfairly in Hollywood after Daniels directed her in 2009’s “Precious.” It was during the time she worked on the film that she earned the reputation of being difficult to work with after she refused to promote the indie drama overseas.
As a result, Daniels, according to Mo’Nique, told her she was blackballed, which she spoke on initially back in 2015. While chatting on CNN that year, Daniels explained his side of the story.
“We were on the [press] campaign and she was making unreasonable demands…she wasn’t thinking, and this is where reverse racism, I think, happens,” Daniels said of Mo’s Oscars promo. “I said, ‘You have to thank the producers of the film, you have to thank the studio,’ and I think she didn’t understand that. And I said, ‘Listen, people aren’t going to respond well if you don’t.”
Meanwhile, in response to the latest development in the Mo’Nique’s fair pay saga, fans have been coming out in droves supporting her.
“@therealmoworldwide I believed you all along…the truth hurts, that’s why people want you to keep quiet….Love you Mo💖.. Can’t wait to see you when you come to Pittsburgh 😘”
“I Believed You The Whole Time… I Don’t Even Follow Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, Or Oprah.”
“I love you Mo. I’m sorry the world is fighting you 😢💕.”
