After the intrigue surrounding #WhoBitBeyoncé has wanned, the singer’s stepdad has weighed in on the drama and he’s taking aim at Tiffany Haddish.
Actor Richard Lawson, who is married to Bey’s mom Tina Knowles-Lawson, explained while making the rounds for his upcoming legal drama “In Contempt,” that Haddish “took advantage” when she discussed a mystery actress bit Beyoncé at a December party.
“Listen, drop it, that’s my suggestion. Drop it, it’s just a bunch of crap,” he told People magazine Friday, April 6. “I think Tiffany just took advantage of a moment … [and] tried to move the needle for her own thing. It’s a bunch of crap. There’s nothing to it.”
Haddish spawned the biggest internet mystery of the year when she disclosed to GQ last month that an unnamed Hollywood actress had decided to nibble on Beyoncé’s face.
“So Beyoncé stormed away,” Haddish said after the star’s face came into contact with an actress’s chompers, “went up to Jay-Z, and was like, ‘Jay! Come here! This b—- —’ and snatched him. They went to the back of the room. I was like, ‘What just happened?’ And Beyoncé’s friend walked up and was like, ‘Can you believe this b—- just bit Beyoncé?’”
Haddish had offered to fight the star but Bey said it wasn’t worth it.
“That b—- is on drugs. She not even drunk,” Haddish claimed Bey said. “The b—- is on drugs. She not like that all the time. Just chill.’”
As a result, buzz followed for weeks about who the purported biter was, with guesses ranging from Lena Dunham to Sanaa Lathan. Although the “Nappily Ever After” actress denied it was her, a TMZ report claimed otherwise.
Still, Lawson thinks the whole situation was blown out of proportion.
“It was something that was blown out of proportion and Tiffany just got a ride from doing it,” he said to ABC Radio Tuesday per The Grio. “And so her numbers probably jumped up…Other people jumped on the bandwagon and it’s all a bunch of B.S. It’s not real… It’s not true.”
