Why Tiffany Haddish Turned Down Chance to Audition for ‘Get Out’

Tiffany Haddish could have been part of the cast of the Oscar-nominated racial satirical thriller “Get Out,” but the comedian would rather avoid the chance to encounter demons.

“I was like ‘Aw man. Look, I don’t do scary movies, dog,” she told director Jordan Peele, who had asked her to audition after she appeared on his show “Key and Peele.” “I don’t do that. You know, that’s demonized kind of stuff. I don’t let that in my house … That’s the white man trying to take people’s souls out of they body and opening up brains. That sounds like some demon stuff to me. I’m cool on that. I’ll watch it in the daytime, but I’m not going to be in it.”

Haddish added that after learning the set of “The Exorcist” was rumored to be cursed, she decided to avoid taking parts in scary movies.

“I don’t want to get in no curses,” she adds. “People already curse me out enough as it is, I don’t need no extra demon curses.”
