Deadpool Script Donald Glover

As we previously reported, Donald Glover and Stephen, his younger brother, are no longer involved with the animated “Deadpool” show on FX. The two were supposed to write the script for the series, but the network said creative differences kept that from happening.

So on Wednesday (March 28), Donald responded to the news by releasing a mock script that addresses the cancellation, where the Deadpool character asks if racism had anything to do with it.

The actor and writer also said that he “wasn’t too busy to work on Deadpool” after some reports suggested that was the case.

“Do you think they canceled the show because of racism?” asks Deadpool in the script. “Yeah, all the writers were Black. The references were pretty Black too … Maybe we were alienating our white audience? No. We did a whole goat yoga episode …  I heard they went over lunch budget ordering Jamaican food at least once a week.”

“You know, I’m not mad about this whole ‘cancelled’ thing,’” the script also reads. “I mean, is it even a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV other than the president?”

So far Marvel nor Disney, who purchased the comic book company in 2009, has responded to Donald’s script yet or his accusations of racism. But a lot of his followers have, and they flooded social media with praise for how he responded to the cancellation.

You can see some of those comments below, as well as the full script.
