Grammy-award winning singer Dennis Edwards of the Temptations passed away earlier this month at 74. His exact cause of death is still under investigation. However, court documents filed by an adult protective services investigator allege that Brenda Edwards, his wife of nearly 20 years, tried to suffocate him by pushing his head into the bed. The abuse reportedly took place in the weeks leading up to Dennis Edwards’ death.
Brenda Edwards was also accused of taking the singers hearing aids while he was “bed bound”. On Jan. 18 an emergency protective order was granted, barring Brenda Edwards from any contact with her husband. A court hearing was scheduled for Friday, Feb. 2 but was canceled after the singer’s death the day before.
The Temptations singer’s wife denies all the allegations saying, “I loved Dennis, and we were married for 18 years. I would have never done anything to harm him. These allegations are false and defamatory and will be proven as such. Until this is all over, I have no further comment.”
