Usher had some of his belongings stolen earlier this year, but they’ve now been recovered.
According to the Los Angeles Times, police arrested a man named Benjamin Eitan Ackerman who burglarized the singer’s home in March. And when the cops entered the suspect’s house they discovered more than $2 million of stolen property, some of which belonged to Usher.
Police say that Ackerman stole from 13 homes in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley and did it by posing as a realtor or someone interested in buying a home.
He then went to open houses to case the place and then returned at night to commit the burglary. Before Ackerman was caught, he stole millions in jewelry, expensive artwork and pricey liquor.
MSN reports that Usher’s housekeeper first discovered the break-in and told Grace Miguel, the singer’s estranged wife, that she noticed “a footprint on the second floor, a handprint on the pillow in the lower floor and the curtains to the lower floor were open.”
Miguel then discovered that $20,000 in cash was taken from a nightstand, plus, a $200,000 necklace and six watches valued at $220,000. Some of the thief’s other victims include pop star Jason Derulo and a cast member of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Jared Timmons, the person spearheading the investigation, said Ackerman is a smooth career criminal with a history of theft and dealing in fraud.
“When he showed up, he was dressed to the nines,” Timmons explained. “He acted the part, he was very slick. He appears to be very fluent with technology.”
LA Police Department confirmed the suspect was arrested and released on bail.
