Xscape Will Record New Music Without Kandi

Fans are continuing to see that years after Xscape broke up, the group still has a lot to sort through. On “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” Sunday, the vocalists seemed to be on different pages about releasing new music. While LaTocha and Tamika Scott, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle Harris agreed they’d be making new music as Xscape, Kandi Burruss said she had other plans.

“I’m going to do Broadway and some other things and they’re going to be doing music,” she explains before adding that they still bump heads over certain things.

At home, everyone felt the tension.

And the Sunday, Nov. 13 episode of Xscape’s Bravo reality show, “Still Kickin’ It,” revealed exactly why Burruss isn’t keen on jumping in on the group’s recording sessions.

While gearing up for their reunion performance at the BET Awards in June, Burruss called out LaTocha Scott for setting up the group’s third album, “Traces of My Lipstick” as a launching pad for her solo career. Blaming LaTocha for the breakup of the group, Burruss also pointed out that the singers initially stood to make $4 million from “Lipstick” but only made $800,000 because LaTocha refused to do promotions.

LaTocha denied being responsible for the breakup, saying that Jermaine Dupri advised her to go solo and she and Burruss later had an emotional heart to heart about their relationship. Kandi explained she felt as if LaTocha didn’t like her and that she and her sister, Tamika, would gang up on her. Add that to the fact that Tamika would spread lies about Burruss and it’s clear what issues the “Fly Above” singer has with the group.

Yet on “WWHL,” Tamika said she made a couple of private apologies to Burruss. But Burruss thought they should have been public—  like it was when Tamika went on the radio and claimed Burruss slept around.
