‘Girls Trip’ Sequel? Here’s Who We Think Would Make BOMB Additions to the Cast

“Girls Trip,” the sleeper hit of the summer, has raked in over $125 million worldwide since its July 21 release. With numbers like that, it’s no surprise producer Will Packer is already low-key eyeing a sequel — even though he’s too coy to admit it outright.

Packer told Vulture it’s still rather early to be discussing a follow-up, since the film — starring Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish as old friends (the “Flossy Posse”) reuniting on a trip to the Essence Festival in New Orleans — is still in theaters.

“The only thing harder than opening a studio comedy today is opening a studio comedy sequel,” Packer said. “That’s the next challenge. I love our team. If anybody can do it, we can do it.”

If there is a sequel, Packer says the original Flossy Posse will return. However, we here at Atlanta Black Star have an idea about what the ideal cast would be for the film. Take a look below.

  1. Nicki Minaj

We would cast Nicki Minaj as the hotel receptionist that the Flossy Posse visits. Minaj would be the character who sees everything going on and helps them out in the end. The “Night Is Still Young” rapper has some acting experience thanks to her roles in “Barbershop: The Next Cut” and “The Other Woman.”

2. Cardi B.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper would play Dina’s (Haddish) cousin. Cardi B.’s amazing and adventurous personality would match Dina’s energy in the film.

3. Tyrese

Tyrese is the perfect touch of sexiness. However, he’s going to be the love interest that doesn’t get any love.

4. Drake

We’d cast Drake as Lisa’s (Pinkett-Smith) love interest that she eventually falls for. After going through a breakup in the first film, the nice guy will come and win her heart. Besides, Drake is known for being emotional, so it seems like a match made in heaven.

5. John Legend

John Legend is Sasha’s (Latifah) love interest. He is going to be a writer just like her and that is how their bond will form.

6. Solange Knowles

The “Cranes In The Sky” artist will play herself. During that weekend, the Flossy Posse will attend another musical event where they will be serenaded by Knowles.

7. Kevin Hart

No need to explain why Kevin Hart would be cast: He makes every film hilarious. He will play another receptionist who teams with Minaj to bail the group out of trouble.

Keeping fingers crossed that the “talk” becomes reality.
