Tearful Lil Mama Thinks We All Need to Forgive Each Other for Past Mistakes, and That Includes Chris Brown

Lil Mama knows what it’s like to have her past held against her and she believes everyone should be forgiven for their past mistakes, including Chris Brown.

The New York rapper discussed overcoming obstacles and brought up the constant criticism of Brown, which has persisted since his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

“You’ve done things in your past that’s not on the record because you didn’t have the fame at the age of 15,” she tells Flip Da Script Tuesday, May 30. “And the s— that you was doing, you and your loved ones and your close friends, they remember that s— and they forgive you for it. Imagine the whole world not forgiving you for something that you did. We gotta learn how to forgive each other.”

Lil Mama said Brown isn’t the only person whose past is being held against him, listing Michael Jackson among the entertainers who are constantly mocked for their issues. For her, jokes are okay, but it’s also important to let things go and sympathize with people.

“Do we really get to a place where we want to know how somebody is feeling?” she asks through tears. “Where we want to know what somebody is going through? And I don’t think that we do. I think we laugh it off because everybody’s dealin’ with their bulls—. … So, it’s like, ‘If I can laugh at you for five minutes and not deal with my pain, I’d rather do that.'”

Brown seemed to appreciate Lil Mama’s sentiments, letting her know in an Instagram comment.
