After winning the 2016 Global Good Award at the BET Awards on Sunday, musician and humanitarian Akon spoke with Hollywood Today Live about his Lighting Africa Initiative that will bring electricity to 600 million people.
After discussing his humanitarian efforts, host Garcelle Beauvais asked the music mogul about a 2013 comment calling men “natural breeders” and whether he stands by this claim years later:
“Absolutely,” Akon answers.“Why is it that every woman in the world is going through the exact same problem with a man?”
“Just think about it. It’s not a coincidence, it’s just who we are. I always believed that if women took the time to understand men, you literally would run the world. The only reason why we’re more dominant is because we know more about women than women know about men.”
“Let’s think about it. [Men] are outnumbered 15 to 1,” he elaborates. “[Women] are clearly smarter than we are, and you execute a lot quicker and faster more than we do. So how is it that we run the world?”
