After Monday’s Met Gala, rapper Kanye West fired a bodyguard because the rapper assumed that the bodyguard was flirting with his wife, Kim Kardashian.
Steve Stanulis is a 42-year-old former Staten Island police officer and exotic dancer that was working for the mega-rap star West. He told the Daily Mail in an interview this week that he was fired for asking Khardashian if the two were ready to leave from New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
“I just wanted to make sure we were ready when they were ready. I went up to the floor to the Presidential Suite. I was walking and the door was open and I happened to see Kim. I thought I’d ask her or the other security or assistant if there was a change of plan. As I was walking up to Kim and the room (within touching distance of Kardashian), Kanye walked by…”
He also tells the British news outlet that Kanye is one of the most “self-absorbed” people he has worked for. Stanulis has also worked for actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
“I had no intention on hitting on Kim Kardashian. I am happily married. I got enough problems in the world and three young kids, so that was not my intent. I mean he has everything you could possibly want in the world…money, power, fame, a beautiful wife and talent. He has to pull back. I’d like to think this was all a misunderstanding. But if this was the reason, to be where he is and to be that insecure, it is mind boggling to me.”
The bodyguard also says that Kanye is just rude:
“I work with Saudi royal family members and when you sit with them and whatever they eat, you eat. They tip you and its great. But with this guy, you could be working with him for 17 hours and sitting in a restaurant with him. You would think he would say, ‘Hey you want something to drink?,’ but it was nothing. It just blew my mind.”
