This political cartoon portrays an instance in which a Hawaiian, a Cuban, and a Filipino is praising the United States for their “independence.” This image is problematic due to the fact that the United States is the exact opposite of a savior. The Unites States is an oppressive, imperialistic colonizer.

This image, published by Puck Magazine, displays a scenario in which Native Americans are telegraphing a Filipino a warning message reading the following, “Be good or be dead,” while depicting  a pile of dead Black Filipinos who supposedly failed to surrender to the United State’s imperial agenda.
