I think Mr. Daniels need to take several seats! I have not heard of one person who have said that Monique was blackballed in Hollywood, except him! She does not need to defend herself.
…Why is it that I want to grab that guy by the collar, and shake the shit outta him? Ms. Mo'Nique, never sell yourself short, and never compromise your values.
This is a women's rights issue. Here is a woman who reasonably asked to be paid for equal work (or be paid period) and is getting the backlash from a black male who is acting as proxy for his white counterparts. Sad and she need not respond. More women need to stand up for her by not watching anything that Lee Daniels touch.

This is not a women's right issue. This is just a Black issue. We're not talking about a regular "man" she's requesting equal treatment from… this is not a name based in masculinity and taking care of women, this is a man who loves men. He is therefore not qualified to be in the same category as any natural man. More Black people in general, especially BlackMEN need to stand up for her! They're the ones who should be on the forefron of the fighting grounds. We can't expect just all "women" to give af. All "women" are not the same as us… didn't Arquette just say at the awards that Minorities need to stand up for white women the way they've stood up for us? Just another reminder of why black people need to branch out and become employers and stop settling for employees. I understand 100% of what Mo'Nique is saying, however, when you're an employee you can receive the axe for anything. She took that insignificant 50k, for the star and leading role, because she needed it. Mo'Nique has a name well enough in the black community were she can open up business avenues for herself. This will allow her to set the tone for what she will and won't accept when it comes to Hollywood.
If flying out of the country to participate in press wasn't explicitly stated in her contract, then she was not legally bound to do so. Your comment is obsolete. I respect her for standing her ground and choosing her family over Hollywood politics.

She didn't realize that the movie would be a hit, and so she was mad because she only agreed to a 50K salary for her work, which I don't understand. Who is her agent? I think she should have gone to Cannes WITH her family and had the studio pay for it. They would have had an experience they would NEVER forget.I think she should fire her agent and get on with rebuilding the career she deserves to have.

the problem is she was suppose to be cast in his other projects but she wanted more money and he felt like I gave you the role and now you treat me like this.
mo'nique isn't a big draw to movies, he could of got anyone, he was doing her a favor considering she wasn't a serious actress, hell she did the parkers and soul plane but shes a comedienne.

And, she stands up for what she believes. What's most depressing however is, when a brother admits that he is a "sellout"… "Play ball" is not always the same as "sell out". For a sister like me, that believes in the rise and power of our people, to hear a brother speak that publicly that he is a "sell out" is disheartening and "ain't ever good!". Never!

Shed opted to hang up her "Ho" heels and stand tall like a dignified African Women. SHe was paid $50,000 to make one of the most pathological movies in the history of Black cinema. She attempted to rectify that misstep by now promoting it. Typical to form White folks awarded her with an Academy Award. Something Cicely Tyson never received. Maybe if she had a penis like some others associated with this campaign to deduce black talent to "trade" she would have happily joined the Frey with the other predators misappropriating the lives of Black people.
