  1. She is not the only one. I live in Africa and last year I dated an African American woman online and believe me this folks hate Africa. Not every African American like Africans. When I told her that we also drive in hummer, got flat screen TV, and swimming pool she was shocked and she couldn't believe it. They have been indoctrinated that Africa is nothing but stinging poverty which is wholly false. Africans countries are one of the most growing economical country in the world.

  2. Jean Harding Grandberry says:

We ain't African, they hate us ! We are Hebrew.

  3. Richard Richard says:

By rejecting your African heritage means your still a slave without an identity.

  4. Teran Henderson says:

Man us African Americans embarrass ourselves at every turn, especially when it comes to Africans and Africa. Most of us are busy regurgitating everything the white man has told us about "history" and it's pretty pathetic. I'm totally sorry and baffled every time I hear about black people embarrassing ourselves through an education we should already have.

  5. All the activity about not being African-American, this denial come from our failure to advance our self in American society. A lot of people don't want to be associated with failure, so they run away from us and our failed place here. I once worked a black kid in NYC in the 70s who hung around with white kids, and he use to say "I am not black I am French" and he was as black as coal!

  6. Michelle A Clarke says:

The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.. I keep saying it, a lot of Black people is still programmed.. Nuff Black people need to unlearn and relearn. If she would have said I don't like to be called an African American, I would rather be called Black American, than I could've given her the benefit of doubt.. Not that I would still side with her, but it wouldn't sound as bad.. Raven Symone is confused.

  7. Tovia Scott says:

I think we should research the word "Africa" and see where it really came from and what that country was called before that name.

  8. Shammua Mekonnen says:

    Jean Harding Grandberry EXPLAIN HEBREW.

  9. Edward Wandrick says:

@ Jean Harding Grandberry White people hate you more and they don't look like you. Now, what?

  10. Raven-Symone like many others have been conditioned to reject their African ancestors and in doing so they reject themselves displaying abnormal behavior like changing their hair texture, skin color and nose shape to look like Europeans. Our skin color and hair texture and other unique characteristics are the result of more than a million years of African evolution and a few hundred years of European brainwashing does not change what you are it only changes what you think you are.

  11. Shewat Isak says:

Africa is a continent and not a country. Americans are a bunch of imbeciles with no clue of the world around them. No wonder you people are the a laughing stock of the world.

  12. Bwire Vincent says:

Blacks need to get their own news channel, where the news are streamed, straight from Africa, Britain, and the Caribbean. That's the only way they will get to understand that Blacks outside the US are catching up at a very fast pace.

The best advice I can give American Blacks is, travel, and see for yourselves…

  13. Wow the other cosby kid is a pornstar I wonder what they were being fed on set…

  14. Ally Renee says:

Have you ever heard the labels African English, African Australian, or African Mexican put on anyone, especially after at least 5 generations have never been out the country? It's not about rejecting your heritage at what point do we become American in America, because when I go to other countries I'm American to them not African American

  15. Teran Henderson says:

Bwire Vincent I'm going back to Africa as soon as I can.

  16. Shammua Mekonnen says:

Bwire Vincent that would be a great thing to have our own Telecommunications. However, when Muammar Gadaffi tried to make these things happen, African Leaders stood by and watched him get butchered by the west. Now we have Mr. Mugabe, who it seems, is not getting any support from the rest of Africa. I maintain that all African leaders are on the take except Mr. Mugabe. Now, i stand corrected with the presentation of evidence to the contrary.

  17. Jean Harding Grandberry Who told you Africans hate blacks of the Americas? If they did, why do they copy the black styles that is imported to them through music and sports?

That's a bunch of lies that you have been fed. And talking about Hebrew, if you believe you are, then you have to know that your ancestors was living where before he was brought in the Americas? That's right, Africa.

You know that blacks of all nationality is always persecuted, but to understand Africa, you have to either go there or talk to people who have lived there. There are many kinds of people.

We have the Bantus, whom all emigrated from Libya a few hundred years ago, and they are the only people who have migrated all over Africa. This is proof that they are the Judeans who fled from Roman persecutions. The others are the children of Mizraim (Egypt), and Cush (Ethiopia). They are what we Bantus refer to as "Nilotic" because we are not the same people of origins. They have a different physical and facial features than the Bantus of the Sub Sahara and South Africa.

I don't want to say much because there is just too much information, but take your time and look at the African map. You may see a pattern there. 🙂

  18. It was called the land of Ham. Africa is of Roman origin. The Afri people lived in the North of the continent to the area today we call "Tunisia". Ica is latin for "Land".

So when you say Africa, you're saying that it is the land of the Afri people, but we know that they are not even all over the continent. Their land is very small. So, technically, it is misleading to call the whole continent "Africa" because the Afri people do not own the whole continent. Lol

This word Africa was yet another label put on the continent during the Colonialism established by European powers in 1885.

  19. Raven became a Disney girl after Cosby. Cosby didn't do anything wrong. They made their own choices, and we all know what after to children after leaving Disney. 🙂

  20. Bwire Vincent says:

Teran Henderson Whites are always travelling to Africa. Some have even settled in the continent, while others are/were born there. They speak the local languages fluently. In other words, Whites are already calling Africa, home.

  21. Bwire Vincent says:

Shammua Mekonnen I totally agree with you. Africa is suffering from a leadership crisis; most of the people we have as leaders, are puppets, who are there to serve their colonial masters.

  22. Imani Asha says:

We are American. I don't see no european Americans… They just Americans. But they r not indigenous to America… We are….

  23. Imani Asha says:

I'm American cuz my bloodline is indigenous to America. I never been to Africa. Now we all know life began in Africa…. So if we go by that then all races need to put African in front their country… Real talk.

  24. You Afrocenticks are just as oppressive as your European masters. If you knew as much as so claim then you would not be calling yourselves African! Go back to where you came from and stop claiming the so called Nergo American as your Ancestors. They are not you people has no history just fiction you create

  25. Ptah Tatenen says:

Teran Henderson You sound worse than Raven claiming we're Hebrew and not African.

  26. Rubie Brown says:

Some Africans show extreme prejudice towards African Americans. I guess it come down to how you are socialized. I have African friends and we get along great. But I have had some Africans to repeat the things European have long ago negatively spread about African American culture. This will always be the case if we buy into such foolery. If you think and experience independently, love you for you no one can control the way you think. I am proud to be Black and of African American descent. Surely we are forever a part of each other and as such entwined for eternity. I could never deny Africa no more than I can deny my Ebony skinned Father or his dark skinned Grandson. So let's please squash this. Surely we have more pressing things to discuss. Such as Affordable College, Health, and the General Economy in both Countries and praying that African people get the help they need with the Ebola outbreak, because when Africa hurts every African American should feel her pain.

  27. Tovia Scott says:

Shewat Isak Yep you're right…it is a continent, I simply made a mistake. I mean really if i know that Africa isn't it's original name…I think I would know that it is a continent…you asswipe. And I would much rather be a laughing stock than the devil anyday. You devil.

  28. Kenya Prettygirlswagg Leverson says:

I'm not agreeing with these at all because it's in a way denying who you are. your heritage which makes you who you are. There are already so many that tell people not to embrace their own heritage because they only look a certain race. Why? Why should I not embrace my heritage and only one when it's more to it than that? I know where I come from. What my family history is. My great great grandfather was a slave his wife was Cherokee native her brother was white and native. I am black but that is my heritage when I speak of it I'm told I should only speak of being African. Why? Why should I hide my family history? This is why I can't agree with raven I can't it's denying yourself your history.

  29. Tovia Scott says:

I just recommend that you do your own research.

  30. Rubie Brown says:

You just solidified my point in my post above. People make mistakes everyday. The same as you did when you first entered this country and had no clue what to do in certain situations because this country did not reflect your way of life. America and its ways were foreign to you. Were you to an imbecile? Of course you relied on Europeans, who colonized you just as they enslaved us. Yet you still feel that you are superior to Africans Americans. We hold Degrees, Advance Degrees, run major Cooperation, own Media and Productions Companies, Teachers, Physicians, Police, Athletes, etc. We have conquered every aspect of what white society deemed us incapable of doing. Do you really believe you are in a position to critique anyone of us in this country? You are here because of the Blood shed by many African Americans in the United States If segregation still existed do you think you would enjoy the perks of America? Many of you would not be in Universities in this Country. Had it not been for that and the Lobbying of many African American people in the Social and Political World your numbers here would be diminished or virtually non existence. Mr. Shewat Isak, parts of Africa educational system has not reached it poorest citizens and as such we see people like the people who slaughter, and take children and turn them into soldiers, take innocent girls, and gut pregnant women. Parts of Africa is in Chaos and you are here. Why is that if you are so superior to Blacks in America? We as African Americans have a long fight ahead of us. But we continue to fight and certainly have our issues. So you see we can talk about imbeciles or Barbarians all day long. But at the end of the day. We both have Black skin and we both share African Blood. Charis C-Man Dondeli has educated us. You sir are completely brain washed, downing someone else has only succeeded in showing how idiotic you really are!!

  31. Rubie Brown says:

    Shewat Isak
Will that make you more acceptable to the Europeans you are trying to impress?

  32. Tovia Scott says:

Rubie Brown Are you directing this comment to me? Because I am black.

  33. Rubie Brown says:

Why are you here? If you have all the answers to Black Socialization and it's destruction of the Afrocentric Mind, then why aren't you in your country? Surely you would not want to be polluted.

  34. Jean Harding Grandberry says:

We are still slaves, but now some of us know our identity. Africans sold us into slavery, so did Arabs, hundreds of years before the white man. AFRICANS HATE YOU ! 40. Jean Harding Grandberry says:

    Scipio Africanus named it Africa.

  41. Tovia Scott says:

Shewat Isak Yep you're right…it is a continent, I simply made a mistake. I mean really if i know that Africa isn't it's original name…I think I would know that it is a continent…you asswipe. And I would much rather be a laughing stock than the devil anyday. You devil. And going by your picture, I can't tell if you're a male or female but I guess it doesn't matter when you're the devil.

  42. Richard Richard says:

Jean Harding Grandberry Your statement is fundamentally wrong your African from West Africa and it was the white man who took you into slavery. Secondly I'm Ugandan East African and let me tell you the vast majority African love African American. You need to travel to the mother land discover your people we don't hate any of you.

  43. what does being on 'set' have to do with what/who they are as adulds?

  44. Travis Six says:

F**k being called an african-american we are african people who happened to be in america. We weren't called african american until Jesse "Messy Jesse" Jackson coined the term in 1988 at an urban league. Conference

  45. Richard Richard You can't argue with ignorance.

  46. White folks in America are very clear on who they are, for whites , to be "all American"is being white. At all levels of schooling, whites learn and revere their European ancestry, and their white American forefathers, and by doing so, run to their whiteness for affirmation of who they are. White folks will say they are "mixed", "mixed"with Irish, Jewish and other white ethnics, whites aren't about to claim any African ancestry as being part of their heritage. This is how people acquire and maintain power. How do you become subjugated, humiliated at the whim of those in power (whites)? You do what Raven Simone and many black folks do, you run from who you are, because you're ashamed of who you think you are. We do this via abstractions, contradictions ( I don't want to be labeled, but call me an American) and all other sorts of mind fuck games. The internet is a wonderful thing, because you get to see clear examples, and plenty of examples of why white people are in power and why black folks are at the bottom.

  47. Jean Harding Grandberry You are very wrong, are you running away from what you are? Most of us are descendants of Africa, Not Hebrew, sorry to break your fantasy.

  48. Shammua Mekonnen says:

William Price , what i think needs to be established is that, even if the Biblical story about the Hebrews are true, evidence are on the walls to show that during that time line, all of the inhabitants in that region, were MOORS, when i say Moors, i mean people with Black Skin. Now, based on the Biblical story, Abraham and his family were called Hebrews by the indigenous people of the region they entered, that name carry's a meaning, so it would be fair to say that, all strangers who "CROSSED OVER" were called Hebrews, and, they were Black in colour. No, the Biblical Story states that Hagar was from Khemet (Africa), her child Ishmael, would be the father of that line, so it would be fair to say that, the off spring from Ishmael are African, all the down to now.

  49. Shammua Mekonnen Huh wrong!! Ishmael is the ancestors of the Nomads/Arabs. In the Bible, it tells you whom Ishmael is the father of:

    Genesis 17:20 (KJV)
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

You need to read Genesis 10 because it gives you the map of the original nations that God established, and they settled in Europe, West Asia (covering West Russia, India, Arabia), and North East Africa. There's a bible map that puts it more clearly so you can see it:

    http://www.bible-history.com/maps/2-table-nations-3.jpg

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2b/Noahsworld_map.png

The original dwellers of 'Africa', biblically called the land of Ham were: Lud (Libya), Phut, Mizraim (Egypt), Cush (Ethiopia). Now, what we call "Middle East" today was still part of the land of Ham because the land was habited by Ham's children and Shem's children.

Abraham came from Shem's lineage. All the people mentioned in Genesis were and always lived in the land of their ancestors. Most of "Africa" was still the wild, and no man lived beyond the territories mentioned in Genesis 10. That's why when Alexander conquered the "world", he only conquered the "known" world.

You can't apply the same 'world' today because it would be inaccurate. Alexander never saw South Africa, Japan, nor Australia and America. Lol but the European powers from Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, England did.

So, no, it's not fair to say that Ishmael is the father of Africans. You have not been in Africa. Have you been in Africa? Do you know the people that live there? We Africans can tell amongst ourselves our difference even though we are all "black people", but we are all different. There is something that separates us. And the Ishmaelites today are not the real seed. They're the seed of Edom. The real Arabs are minorities in the so called "Arab Nations" because they are not ruling.

  50. Hey, I am in my own country. This is my homeland! Yes I do have the answer its the fact you people use a political commercial consuct created in 1984 to poison the minds of the so called black race here in America.

  51. TaSheika Rae Brewer says:

I'm not sure how people of mixed backgrounds are viewed in Africa but here in America you are forced to choose. I'm a woman who was born to a white mother and a black father here in America and have spent my entire life precariously flirting with the boundaries of both races. If I choose to identify solely as black then it is perceived by my family that I am denying my strong Scottish heritage. If I dare to call myself mixed or biracial around my black friends or school mates then I am considered a sellout who doesn't appreciate my African heritage. There is no way to be both here in America while appeasing both sides. Hence the reason you see the dilemma most biracial people are put in. I (a pagan woman) teach my daughters (whom I consider black because my husband is black and it would be easiest for them to identify as such) about all of their ancestry but put an emphasis on African deities and folklore.

I do have to agree with your point about blacks misconceptions about Africa. I dated a man from Kenya once and made it a point to learn all about his culture and become friends with his friends. I actually got to a point where I could follow a conversation in Swahili. His mother didn't want him with an American woman so it didn't work out, but when we were together I would get weird questions about what kind of houses and such they lived in. A co worker of mine (she was a black girl as well) sincerely thought all Africans were naked and lived in trees! I was appalled and I'm not even from Africa.

  52. TaSheika Rae Brewer says:

I completely agree. I get told the same if I dare speak of my white mother and our Scottish heritage.

  53. Shammua Mekonnen says:

Charis C-Man Dondeli thank you for the lesson. My dictation is very clear, Clearly, if Hagar came from Egypt (Africa), and Ishmael is her Sun (Son), then it would be fair to say, Africa had people before Ishmael was born. Now, i said, from Ishmael's line, his offspring would be African, His Line, his offspring, not all of Africa. Naturally, Hagar would have returned home to Africa, to raise her Ishmael, seeing that she knew only Africa, based on the Biblical Text. Read World History, Biblical Literature is just that, Biblical literature.

  54. Shammua Mekonnen Again, there were no such thing as "African" before Rome colonized Northern Africa.

Besides, Ismael cannot be African because he made his own nation: the Arabs. Although he is the son of Abraham, God separated Ishmael from Isaac. They made two distinct kind of people although they have the same father.

Yes, there were people living in the land we call today Africa, but they only lived in the Norther part and North East. The rest of the continent was a jungle. It was until the Judeans were kicked off the land of Israel that they all went into "Africa", and a few hundred years later, when Muslims began converting the nations, our ancestors decided to move south away from the god of Muslims.

It is around the 1300s that the so called "Bantus" began populating what we call today West Africa, Central Africa, and Southern Africa. I know this because I have the official family tree passed down from generation from generation from my tribe. I'm planning on publishing it in the coming months because I'm translating it from our language to common tongues.

  55. Ruby Alexander Ockletree says:

I was born a female, now if I want to choose to live my life as a man, that doesn't take away the fact that I was born a female. Same thing, my ancestors are from Africa and I was born here in America. So does that make me African-American? Rather I want to be called or identified as an African-American does not change the fact of my DNA or ancestry. The way the world identify you shouldn't matter, just be comfortable in yourself and be ready to answer to God on the day of judgment.
